The Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) has announced that it recorded a 50% increase in market capitalisation at market close on 1 August 2023 following the debut of Anglo American PLC on the bourse.
BSE's market cap grew from P396 Billion to P593 Billion at the close of the market, catapulting the BSE to be one of the leading stock exchanges in Africa in terms of size. Anglo American PLC's share price surged from P244.95 to P392.00.
"This goes to show that our strategic objective of increasing the size of the market is bearing fruit. We look forward to greater milestones before year-end in terms of trades and listings,” said BSE CEO, Mr. Thapelo Tsheole.
