BOCRA Appoints New Board To Drive Digital Economy Roadmap

The Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA) has announced the appointment of a new board of directors, effective 1 August 2025, to steer the regulator through the Botswana National Digital Economy Roadmap 2025–2030 and the Botswana Economic Transformation Programme.

The new board, appointed by the Minister of Communications and Innovation, Hon. Thulagano Segokgo, is chaired by Dr. Bokamoso Basutli, a professional engineer and senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Dr. Basutli currently heads the Department of Electrical and Communications Systems Engineering at the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST).

Moabi Pusumane, Commercial Director at Coca-Cola Beverages Botswana, will serve as Vice Chairperson. He brings over 15 years of cross-functional leadership experience in telecommunications, project management, market intelligence, and commercial strategy.

The other appointed members are:

Montle Phuthego
, a seasoned business development and trade expert with international experience across banking, investment, and corporate governance.

Alta Dimpho Seleka
, a financial management and fiscal governance specialist with more than two decades of senior leadership experience, including roles at the Botswana Unified Revenue Service (BURS).

Lebogang George
, a partner at AJM/ACJ and attorney admitted to the High Courts of Botswana, specialising in commercial law, ICT law, and corporate governance.

Ronald Kgafela
, a certified professional in human capital and organisational development with over 20 years’ experience in HR leadership across sectors.

Dr. Kennedy Ramojela
, a media and communications scholar holding a PhD from RMIT University in Australia, with extensive expertise in broadcasting regulation, digital transformation, and ICT policy.

In a statement, BOCRA said it looked forward to the new board’s strategic direction in implementing the national digital economy agenda and driving inclusive connectivity.

“The Authority is confident that the diverse expertise of the board will strengthen BOCRA’s ability to regulate the sector effectively while advancing Botswana’s digital transformation goals,” it said.

The appointments mark a new chapter for BOCRA as the regulator works to expand access to ICT services, promote digital innovation, and support the country’s broader economic diversification efforts.
