Standard Chartered Bank Botswana Appoints Tally Tshekiso To Board

Standard Chartered Bank Botswana has appointed economist Tally Tshekiso as an independent non-executive director, effective 3 October 2025, the bank announced.

Tshekiso is the founder and principal consultant at Tally Think Tank, a consultancy that provides financial and economic analysis to both public and private sector clients.

Throughout his career, Tshekiso has been involved in shaping investment and economic policy in Botswana, and has represented the country on international platforms promoting private sector-led investment.

He has also served on several boards, including the Public Enterprises Evaluation and Privatisation Agency (PEEPA), Botswana Export Development and Investment Authority (BEDIA), and, most recently African Alliance Botswana Group.

Tshekiso holds a Master of Science in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Botswana.

In a statement, the bank said it believes Tshekiso’s appointment will strengthen the board’s capacity “in driving sustainable growth and creating long-term value for shareholders.”

Tshekiso joins the board as it currently explores shortlisted suitors for its retail and wealth divisions, whose impending sale was announced in November last year.
