Water Utilities Corporation has delayed the publication of its financial statements for the financial years ended 31 March 2024 and 31 March 2025, citing challenges linked to its legacy information systems.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, WUC said the delay affects disclosures required under the listing and disclosure requirements of the Botswana Stock Exchange and is due to additional time needed to extract, verify and consolidate certain financial information.
The corporation attributed the delay to limitations associated with its legacy Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, which is currently undergoing an upgrade. WUC said the system constraints resulted in the audit preparation process taking longer than initially anticipated.
WUC confirmed that its external auditors are continuing with their work and are engaging closely with management to complete the audit process as efficiently as possible. The corporation added that the delay has not had any material impact on its operations and that it continues to conduct business as normal.
“The matter has not resulted in any material impact on the Corporation’s operations, and WUC continues to conduct its activities in the ordinary course of business,” the statement said.
