Gaone Seleka has been appointed as CEO of BOFiNET effective immediately.
Seleka's experience includes roles as the Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) Director at Barclays Bank Botswana. Before joining Barclays, Seleka was Head of Information Technology at Jwaneng Diamond Mine from September 2007 until October 2008.
Seleka has also served as a Board Member of Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Limited (BTCL) as well as Director of Marketing, Communications and Registration at the then Botswana Innovation Hub (BIH).
"Dr Seleka joins BOFiNET at a critical time when we are developing a new three-year corporate strategy to navigate a rapidly changing operating environment and ensure the sustainability and continued impact of BOFiNET," board chair Molemisi Sechaba told staff.
"The board is confident that Dr Seleka's vision, expertise and leadership will guide BOFiNET into the next phase of growth."
Seleka takes over an organisation led by Acting CEOs Mpho Koolese and Keabetswe Segole since the exit of Mabua Mabua in 2023, after Mabua had been at the helm for ten years.
BOFiNET has laid over 12,000km of fibre across Botswana and last year opened a Tier III Data Centre.
