Letshego Africa Holdings has appointed Poelo Mkpayah as group chief financial officer, formalising her position after five months in the interim role at the Botswana-listed pan-African lender.
The appointment takes effect on November 1, 2026, following her initial appointment as interim group CFO on June 1, according to a company announcement published on October 23.
Mkpayah previously served as group head of finance and has been with Letshego since 2014, holding several senior finance leadership positions across the group. She brings more than 20 years of experience spanning financial services, investment management, audit, treasury, capital markets and corporate governance.
Before becoming interim group CFO, she was regional CFO for Letshego’s West Africa operations, where she led capital-raising initiatives involving debt capital markets, development finance institutions and commercial banks. She was also responsible for financial management and governance across multiple operations in the region.
Her appointment provides continuity in the group’s finance leadership, with the board expressing confidence that her experience and understanding of the business will support the execution of its strategic objectives.
Before joining Letshego, Mkpayah held positions at Botswana Development Corporation and Ernst & Young, gaining experience in investment oversight and financial management.
She holds a Bachelor of Accounting degree from the University of Botswana, is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants.
The permanent appointment comes as Letshego continues to operate across multiple African markets, where managing capital, financial governance and regulatory requirements is central to its operations.
