Botswana Savings Bank paid P1.064 million in directors’ fees during the 2025/2026 financial year.
The amounts varied depending on board and committee participation, as well as the period each director served during the financial year.
BSB said directors’ remuneration follows guidelines set by the Government of Botswana, with compensation intended to remain transparent and aligned with public service standards.
Khumiso Tshephe: P195,500
Khumiso Tshephe was the highest-paid BSB director during the year, receiving P195,500.
Tshephe joined the BSB board in September 2021 and served as a non-executive director. She served on the Risk and Compliance Committee and the Human Capital Committee.
She has more than 15 years’ experience in the legal industry and is the founding and managing partner of Tshephe Legal Firm. Her areas of expertise include corporate and commercial law, property, debt collection, foreclosure, civil and criminal litigation, labour and family law.
Tshephe holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Botswana and is admitted as an attorney, notary public and conveyancer. She is also a member of the Law Society of Botswana.
Cornelius Ramatlhakwane: P180,000
Cornelius Ramatlhakwane received P180,000 during the year, making him the second-highest paid director.
Ramatlhakwane joined the board in July 2018 and served as a non-executive director and ex-officio member of the Finance and Audit Committee.
He has more than 20 years’ experience in Botswana’s finance and postal services sectors, with expertise spanning business strategy and development, credit risk management, customer service, sales and marketing.
His previous experience includes roles at Standard Chartered Bank and Deloitte and Touche. He has served as chief executive officer of BotswanaPost since 2015.
Ramatlhakwane holds an MSc in Strategic Management and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Management Studies.
Goitsemang Morekisi: P154,500
Former board chairperson Goitsemang Morekisi received P154,500.
Morekisi joined the BSB board in July 2022 and served as a non-executive director and board chairperson until March 2026.
She is the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for State President and has more than 34 years of experience in the Botswana Government.
Her career has included senior positions in government, including Permanent Secretary roles in the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration and the Ministry of Transport and Communications, as well as Deputy Permanent Secretary for Corporate Services at the Ministry of Finance.
Morekisi holds a Master of Arts in Development Economics and a Post Graduate Diploma in Economics from the University of Sussex in the UK, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Botswana.
Neo Maruapula: P101,600
Neo Maruapula received P101,600 in directors’ fees.
She joined the BSB board in November 2021 and served on the Finance and Audit Committee. Her tenure ended in October 2025.
Maruapula is a Finance and Operations Consultant at EBAT Consultants Limited and has more than a decade of experience in business management, with expertise in operational strategy, business policy, accounting and finance management, auditing, information technology and corporate training.
She also has experience in education and human capital development.
Maruapula holds an MBA in Finance from the University of North West in South Africa, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Saginaw State University in the United States and an Associate Degree in Accounting and Management from Tucson College of Business.
Emelda Phokoletso: P93,000
Emelda Phokoletso received P93,000 after joining the board in October 2025.
Phokoletso served as chairperson of the Finance and Audit Committee.
She is a senior finance executive with 31 years of experience, including 12 years at executive management level. She is a Fellow Chartered Accountant, Associate Chartered Management Accountant and Global Chartered Management Accountant.
Phokoletso holds a Master of Business Administration, a Diploma in Accounting and Business Studies and a Certificate in Accounting and Business Studies.
She is currently Head of Shared Services at the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre, with responsibility for finance, human resources, procurement and logistics, ICT and records management.
She also holds corporate governance qualifications, including King IV training, and completed the Oxford Senior Leadership Programme.
Neo Sharp: P87,600
Neo Sharp received P87,600 after joining the board in October 2025.
She served as chairperson of the Human Capital Committee.
Sharp has more than a decade of experience in high-level government advocacy, litigation, policy formulation and strategy. She has also served on various committees and boards, including the Law Society of Botswana and Botswana Nursing and Midwifery Council.
She holds an LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and an LLM in Rule of Law for Development from Loyola University in Chicago.
Sharp is the managing director of Sharp Law Group, where she provides legal, policy and strategic advisory services to public and private sector clients.
Esther Tuelo Lemo: P63,400
Esther Tuelo Lemo received P63,400 during the financial year.
Lemo joined the BSB board in July 2018 and served as a non-executive director and member of the Risk and Compliance Committee. Her tenure ended in June 2025.
She has more than 30 years of experience in Botswana’s banking and finance sector, including senior-level work in corporate banking and managing large-scale corporate, government, and parastatal portfolios.
Lemo holds an Associate Diploma from the Institute of Bankers South Africa, a Licentiate Diploma in Commercial Banking, a Certificate in Banking from the Institute of Bankers South Africa and a Certificate in Communication Skills from the Institute of Development Management in Botswana.
Laone Gosego Nthaga-Ketshabetswe: P62,000
Laone Gosego Nthaga-Ketshabetswe received P62,000, having joined the board in January 2026.
She served on the Finance and Audit Committee.
Nthaga-Ketshabetswe is a Chartered Development Finance Analyst and investment professional with more than a decade of experience spanning trade finance, project finance and investment strategy.
She is an Investment Officer at the Trade and Development Bank, where she works on cross-border transactions and resource mobilisation initiatives. The bank's report says she has structured and closed multi-million-dollar transactions across Southern and East Africa.
Her expertise includes project finance, credit risk, ESG assessment and blended finance structuring. Before joining the Trade and Development Bank, she worked at First National Bank Botswana, where she established and led the Portfolio Management and Analytics function.
She holds a Master of Commerce in Development Finance from the University of Cape Town, where she graduated with distinction, and a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from the University of Botswana.
Sarah Molale: P61,000
Sarah Molale received P61,000 during the year.
She joined the BSB board in July 2018 and served as chairperson of the Risk and Compliance Committee and a member of the Human Capital Committee. Her board tenure ended in June 2026.
Molale is Deputy Secretary of Finance Administration at the Ministry of Finance.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Finance, a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce.
Emmanuel Kgantumo: P57,000
Emmanuel Kgantumo received P57,000 after joining the board in October 2025.
He serves as BSB’s deputy chairperson and is a member of the Risk and Compliance Committee.
Kgantumo is a Projects and Controls Management professional with more than two decades of experience in creating business value through technology.
He is currently a Project Control Manager at Debswana Mining Company.
His qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Information Systems from the University of Botswana and an MSc in Project Management from the University of Sunderland. He is also an Accredited Tier Designer and Certified Data Centre Expert.
His expertise includes big data analytics, business intelligence, reporting and data warehousing, as well as business and organisational transformation.
Thato Kontle: P8,500
Thato Kontle received P8,500, the lowest amount among the directors disclosed in the report.
Kontle joined the board in March 2026 and serves on the Risk and Compliance Committee.
She is an investment and risk professional with more than a decade of experience spanning banking, corporate finance, enterprise risk management and investment advisory.
Kontle is an Investment Officer at the Botswana Development Corporation, where she evaluates and structures investments across sectors including infrastructure, energy and real estate.
Her experience includes financial analysis and modelling, due diligence, valuation, portfolio performance oversight and deal structuring. She has also contributed to research on financial inclusion and worked with the Investor Interchange Hub on connecting international capital with investment opportunities across Africa.
She holds a Master of Commerce in Development Finance, an MSc in Risk Management and Insurance and a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Risk Management, Banking and Finance.
