Hack4Blood Project Launched

Spectrum Analytics, in partnership with the Ministry of Health &Wellness, Sturgeon Digital, Imagination Lancaster, a design-research lab based at Lancaster University, and other partners, today launched the Hack4Blood project.

Speaking at the launch event held this morning at the Stanbic Bank Accelerate, Founder and Organization Lead at Spectrum Analytics, Tebogo Mogaleemang pointed out the importance of the project in using digital solutions and innovations to help the National Blood Transfusion Center meet its target of 49 000 donated units of blood, a figure which dwarfs the current 18 000 units being donated. 

For his part, the Minister of Health & Wellness Dr Edwin Dikoloti stated that after they put out a call for proposals that aimed to mobilize more people to donate blood, they as the Ministry decided to partner with Spectrum Analytics, who brought in other partners, to implement the Hack4Blood project in order to bring together resources to increase blood donation in the country. 

Hack4Blood is an ecosystem driven problem-solving initiative leveraging collective creativity & innovation of the public, government, industry & academia to solution for the blood shortage crisis in Botswana. The project adopts an ecosystem inspired approach inspired by Botswana's cultural spirit of self-reliance & collaboration.
