What To Know About Botswana Post's "Posa'it" SuperApp

Last week, Botswana Post officially launched its "Posa'it" super app. To get a better and clearer understanding of the product, BW TechZone caught up with Kagiso Mokgosi, general manager of business development and products at the company, who delved into the motivations for launching the super app,  how it aims to stand out in Botswana's growing super app market,  and more.

Please explain exactly what Posa’it is

Posa'it is a consolidation of all BotswanaPost mobile applications into one unified solution. These include PosoApp, PosoMoney and DigiPost. This is the 1st phase(MVP 1) which will be followed by other developments.

How does the product offer convenience to customers?

The product allows customers to consume as many of BotswanaPost's native and non-native products and services as possible at their own time and convenience.  The overarching goal is to decongest the Post Offices by offering alternative channels. With this app, BotswanaPost hopes to also engage and connect better with its customer base.

Within the Posa it App there is a flagship Service called "DigiPost ''which is designed for Hawkers and SMEs where they can sell Postal products and other Value Added Services from our Agency partners while in turn making money for themselves.

There have been several superapps launched in Botswana this year. How does Posa’it set itself apart?

In line with its multi-channel access strategy, BotswanaPost sets itself apart by offering SMMEs the opportunity to resell BotswanaPost's products and services through DigiPost in exchange for a commission for all successful transactions performed on the platform.  This not only empowers the communities where the Post Office operates, but it creates multiple alternative channels for our customer base further decongesting the Post Office. 

Are there any charges associated with the usage of the product?

While downloading the Posa'it application and registration is free, convenience fees are levied on some applicable transactions as per the detailed tariff readily available for download on the platform itself. Furthermore, such fees are visible for the clients' convenience at the confirmation page before every transaction is executed. 

Are there plans to add more services to Posa’it in the near future?

The current Posa’it version is the foundational architecture upon which BotswanaPost will build more products and services for the convenience of its customer base. 

Anything else you would like to add

BotswanaPost through DigiPost offers a great opportunity for Batswana across the country to create additional income for themselves. As such, we urge Batswana to utilise it fully or visit their nearest branch and call the customer contact centre to get further information. We are currently running a promotion where the 1st 1000 customers can buy a DigiPost device at half price. This device has Posa it and a Card Payment App in the form of Soft POS "Tap n Go Technology" which enables card payments.
