The Botswana International University of Science & Technology has clarified that following reports that it will progress all first-year students regardless of results, the decision, while in consideration, has not been finalised yet.
"The University management would like to clarify that the decision was yet to be considered by the University Senate as recommended by the Senate Executive and therefore not yet final," the university said in a statement." The Senate Executive decisions are not final decisions to the extent that they need further approval by the University Senate."
The reported decision by Botswana's apex science and technology university caused an uproar in social media, with complaints that the university is compromising on the quality of its graduates by progressing all students indiscriminately.
