Doreen Khama Retires As Standard Chartered Bank Botswana Board Chair

Doreen Khama has retired as the chairperson of the board of Standard Chartered Bank Botswana (SCBB), a position she had held since 2019.

Appointed in September 2018 as an independent non-executive director, Khama was voted in as secretary in November 2019. She also served in the risk and credit committees.

She is the founder of Doreen Khama Attorneys and also sat on the boards of Botswana Savings Bank and Bank ABC (now Access Bank Botswana).

"The Board of Standard Chartered Bank Botswana Limited would like to thank Ms Khama for her sterling and invaluable contribution to the Board and wish her well in her future endeavours," Standard Chartered said.

Khama leaves at a time when SCBB, which registered a profit before tax of P477 million in its recent results, is currently undergoing the sale of its retail and wealth divisions by its UK-based parent company.
