Lesego Osman Exits As Stanbic's Head of Business & Commercial Banking, Replaced by Basimane Tshepe

Stanbic Bank Botswana has announced a leadership change within its Business and Commercial Banking segment, with Lesego Osman stepping down from his role as Head of Business and Commercial Banking.

In a notice to clients, Acting CEO Realeboga Phoi said Osman exits the position after leading the portfolio with “great passion,” thanking him for his contribution and wishing him well in his future endeavours. The bank did not disclose the reasons for his departure.

He joined the bank in May 2023 after previously being head of global markets and custody at Rand Merchant Bank.

Stanbic Bank Botswana said it is leaning on its succession management protocols to ensure continuity during the transition, adding that the experience within the segment is expected to deepen as the bank continues to prioritise client growth.

With immediate effect, Basimane Tshepe, the bank’s current Head of Commercial Banking, has been appointed Acting Head of Business and Commercial Banking. Tshepe, who has been at the bank for 13 years, is expected to engage directly with clients as the transition progresses.

The bank reassured customers that relationships and service delivery remain a priority, encouraging clients to reach out with any queries and thanking them for their continued support.

The leadership change comes as Stanbic Bank Botswana continues to strengthen its business and commercial banking operations in a competitive local financial services market, where continuity and client engagement remain key to growth.

In its latest financial results, Stanbic Bank Botswana's Business & Commercial Banking division recorded a profit after tax of P48 million.
