Standard Chartered Bank Botswana Limited has issued a cautionary announcement indicating that its unaudited consolidated profit before tax (PBT) for the six months ended 30 June 2026 is expected to be approximately 16% to 26% higher than the previous corresponding period.
The bank expects PBT to increase by between P22 million and P36 million, compared with the P140 million reported for the six months ended 30 June 2025. This implies an estimated PBT range of approximately P162 million to P176 million for the first half of 2026.
The announcement was issued in line with the Botswana Stock Exchange's listing requirements, which require a listed issuer to publish a cautionary announcement once there is a reasonable degree of certainty that expected profit or loss before tax will differ by at least 10% from the previous corresponding period.
Standard Chartered Botswana said its full half-year results are expected to be published before 30 September 2026, when shareholders and investors will receive the detailed financial results and an explanation of the factors behind the expected improvement.
