Botswana Fibre Networks (BOFiNET) has unveiled a new board which features professionals across Botswana's technology, mining, business, finance, procurement and legal sectors.
BoFiNet was founded in 2013 to focus on and improve the backbone network and internet infrastructure of Botswana. More than ten years later and the organisation has laid more than 12,400km of fibre, connecting 80% of the population.
The new board is as follows:
Molemisi Sechaba (Board Chair): Sechaba is currently the Head of Information Management at Debswana Mining Company. He has a Master of Science degree from the University of East London, a Master of Science in Information Technology Management from the University of Sunderland and a Chief Technology Officer program from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He has held numerous management positions, including Head of Technology Risk and Governance at Barclays Bank of Botswana. You can read his interview with BW TechZone here.
Emmanuel Kgantumo (Board Member): Kgantumo is currently the Project Controls Manager at Debswana Diamond Mining Company. Previously, he was the ICT Project Coordinator at BD&IH and Project Manager at Barclays Bank of Botswana. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Information Systems from the University of Botswana and a Master of Science in Project Management from the University of Sunderland.
Mosimanegape Moilwa (Board Member): Moilwa currently holds the position of Finance Manager: Financial Planning and Treasury at the Botswana Development Corporation. Previously, he was Finance and Administration Manager at the Engineers Registration Board of Botswana, Head of Enterprise Products and Strategy at BTC and Senior Manager of Governance, Risk and Controls at Standard Chartered Bank Botswana. He holds an Honours degree in Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
Julia Ditlhong (Board Member): Ditlhong, who holds and Master of Business Administration from MANCOSA, is currently the Senior Manager of Strategy, Research and Policy at the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board. Previously, she was a Senior Natural Resources Officer at the Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism.
Osego Garebamono (Board Member): Garebamono is Managing Partner at Garebamono Law and was previously chairperson of the Law Society of Botswana and Press Council of Botswana. He holds an LLB from the University of Botswana and a Certificate in Telecommunications Policy, Regulation and Telecommunications Management from Wits University.
Innocent Molalapata (Board Member): Currently Director of the Research and Financial Stability Department at Bank of Botswana, Molalapata holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Johannesburg and a Master's degree in Applied Econometrics from the University of Free State. Previously, he was a Manager at the Mergers and Acquisitions department of the Competition Authority of Botswana.
Lucy Ferguson (Board Member): Ferguson holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of Botswana and is also Regulatory Risk Manager at FNBB.
